The way we sampled the reef is we measured a 50 ft distance on the reef and used land markers so we would be able to find the spot later when we go back, and within that every 50ft every 5 ft we used a quadrant to section a part of the reef off to observe. To observe those quadrants we used a goggles to look in the water so we could see clearly at what i we were looking at. We also took pictures of the limu so we could show what each one looks like. Then in another area we measured another 25ft every 5ft we also used a quadrant to section a part of the reef off to observe.
On the reef we were very careful because of the current condition that the reef was in.. we made sure to watch where we stepped to make sure not to step on any invasive limu. We made sure to use covered shoes before going out on the reef, that all open wounds were covered in case of cuts and infections. We also wore sunblock to prevent getting sunburn, and we made sure to bring water so that we don’t dehydrate, and we also had a first aid kit on hand at all times.
